Atlanta, GA asked in Family Law, Child Custody and Legal Malpractice for Georgia

Q: Should I sue for Legal Malpractice?

I hired a lawyer in 2020 because I was trying to take my ex to court for custody. My case kept getting pushed back and rescheduled for years. I didn't see the inside of court room till may 2023. My lawyer gave very little reasoning behind it. Every other time I would talk to my law firm they would have me speaking to a different lawyer. I got to the point of not even trying to remember their name because it would happen so often. Everytime it felt like I was having to tell them every specific about my case because they had no real knowledge. I was constantly getting asked to provide info that turned out to not even be relevant to my case. I kept getting mistaken for a different client. I was nonstop getting last minute info. I even got told the night before court(which was two hours away) that I no longer had a court date and that it was going to be rescheduled.lost my case, sent me other peoples documents they confused me with, and waited till last minute to say they wont appeal.
