A: In Georgia, if you have lived in a property for more than 60 days without a lease, you are considered a tenant-at-will. This means that the landlord must follow the proper legal eviction process to remove you from the property, even if there is no written lease agreement.

The landlord cannot legally evict you simply by telling you to leave after a disagreement. They must provide you with a written notice and follow the legal eviction process. The notice period for a tenant-at-will in Georgia is 60 days.

If you have been locked out or your personal belongings have been removed without a court order, this may be considered an illegal "self-help" eviction.

Here are some steps you can take:

1. Try to communicate with the landlord calmly and see if you can resolve the issue.

2. If the landlord refuses to let you back in, call the local police non-emergency number and explain that you are a tenant who has been illegally locked out of your residence.

3. Consider seeking legal advice from a local tenant rights organization or a lawyer specializing in landlord-tenant law to better understand your rights and options.

4. If necessary, you may need to file a complaint with the local courthouse to regain access to your home and belongings.

Remember, the landlord must follow the proper legal channels to evict you, regardless of the absence of a written lease.
