A:
I understand your frustration with this situation. Whether you can sue the international online store depends on several factors, such as the store's terms and conditions, the laws of the countries involved, and the specific circumstances of your case.
Here are a few points to consider:
1. Review the store's terms and conditions carefully to see if they have any clauses related to import fees, duties, and taxes. These terms may limit their liability or outline their responsibilities regarding these charges.
2. Gather all relevant documentation, including your order confirmation, receipt, and any correspondence with the store regarding the import fees.
3. Contact the store's customer service to try to resolve the issue directly. Explain your situation and provide them with the relevant documentation. They may be willing to refund the 10% import fee they charged or cover the additional duties.
4. If the store is unwilling to resolve the issue, you may want to seek legal advice from a lawyer specializing in international consumer law or e-commerce disputes. They can assess your case and advise you on the best course of action, including whether suing the store is a viable option.
5. Keep in mind that pursuing legal action against an international entity can be complex, time-consuming, and costly. It may be more practical to seek a resolution through other means, such as filing a complaint with consumer protection agencies or your credit card company (if applicable).
Before taking any legal action, it's essential to carefully weigh the costs and benefits and explore alternative dispute resolution methods.
