A: A New Mexico attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for two weeks. Until you're able to consult with local attorneys in your state, the general practice followed nationwide is that clients can dismiss their attorneys, and vice versa, an attorney can withdraw from representing a client (barring certain exceptions, such as looming statute of limitations, permission required, etc.) If you plan to change attorneys, an incoming attorney will probably want to know if the outgoing attorney would be asserting any liens on the matter, for work done to date or out-of-pocket expenses incurred. Good luck
