Q: Do I have a valid defamation case against a former landlord?
From April 1, 2022 to July 28, 2023, I was living in College Station, Texas, renting a room in a woman's house. (I have since moved to Wichita, Kansas.) I decided to move because the living situation had steadily deteriorated over that time. I had provided her with several phone numbers of my friends and family. When I moved out, she sent several derogatory texts to those people, accusing me of pedophilia and other negative actions. All such accusations were completely false and unfounded. I have copies of all those texts and can provide them upon request.
My question is simple: Do I have a valid defamation case against her?
