Q: If vin cleared on dirtbike. Can previous owner say it was stolen even if he didn’t report it 3 weeks later

I went to trade dirtbike for a truck. The cops were waiting for me when I got there they rolled up on me and ran the vin and it cleared. They put me in handcuffs on the curb and my buddies too. Sat there for 45 minutes in the cop car and they waited for somebody to show up claiming that it was his dirtbike along with couple pictures of them showing a normal KTM 450 with a couple extra modificationsfor three weeks I rode it around before I decided to trade it off. he did call in a stolen bike right before I got arrested” so they say” and when the cops check vin they said that it cleared then they called down to the town cops and they said that it has been been reported, but has not been put in the system. The guy said it was stolen that day and I actually had it for three weeks prior. I have a bill of sale and public fender and cops just bat an eye at it. The guy didn’t show proof of owner ship just a couple pictures. I’m charged with 1st degree and 12k in restitution
