I received a citation 4.5 years ago. I hired a lawyer from off the record and she has been handling the court case for me. I have a totally clean record, and the court keeps pushing the date. Is there not a statute of limitations with vehicle citations?I received a ticket when someone merged into me but he claimed it was the opposite and the police went with him. There were no witnesses and no damage on either of our cars, so they just decided to give it to me. I’m just now getting to go to court for it 4.5 years later, the guy from the accident never even replied to my insurance company when they reached out to him. So I didn’t have to pay anything other than maybe this ticket. The lawyer from off the record never replies to my questions and I feel like I’ve been dragged through this case for so long. I literally have gotten pregnant, now have a 3 year old and pregnant again since this ticket happened.
A: Even Georgia has laws requiring a speedy trial. 4.5 years! Only if your attorney keeps asking for or agreeing to extensions. In CA you have 45 days then dismissed for delay in prosecution.
