Whitwell, TN asked in Criminal Law for Tennessee

Q: I haven’t got my community service done due to disability and my car was repoed. I see judge in a week. What should I do

I did not know at the time that the community service would be outside picking up trash. I was burned 35% of my body and I cannot sweat evenly which caused me to have seizures when I get to hot. I can’t do the community service it’s to hot outside. I also lost my car which I can’t make it to the community service location. I’m so worried that I will look as if I’m trying to get out of my punishment which I’m not I was grateful for just community service instead of jail for shoplifting. Oh and by the way I was never arrested or booked for that charge. I was only issued a citation and I went to court where I was told I had to do community service. Is that even legal since I never was booked and processed for the charge. Just wondering

A: Yes, you can probably get the sentence changed to a period of confinement and a fine in lieu of community service if you are unable to perform community service.
