A: Tennessee allows for a divorce on grounds of irreconcilable differences if the spouses agree on all the terms of a divorce and sign a marital dissolution agreement.

In the absence of your spouse's agreement, you may have to prove fault. Whether the verbal abuse and manipulation constitutes fault for purposes of divorce is highly fact specific. Other facts which you have not considered might also constitute fault for purposes of a divorce.

You should consult an attorney in or near the county where you live who is experienced in the area of family law or divorce to determine if you have sufficient grounds to end your marriage in Tennessee.
