Q: I am being sued and need to file an answer. Can I hire an attorney to only do this? I live in Alexandria,LA
A: You can----whatever you do, please know that if once you have been served then you have a short period of time in which to respond to the lawsuit so make sure you are counting your days. Use the Justia Find a Lawyer tab and search for a lawyer in the subject matter of the lawsuit to assist you. Good luck.
A: You could, but it might be difficult to find a law firm willing to work in such an arrangement. You might see it as merely providing responses to 15 or 20 questions in a summons and complaint. They way a law firm is going to see it is that they could be liable for not properly examining the matter in its entirety - a law firm knows they could be held professionally responsible for failing to recognize all issues that could confront you as a result of the lawsuit. But you could make phone calls - you never know unless you ask. Good luck
A: Addendum - your question is posted under "Personal Injury" and "Civil Litigation." Find out whether you may be covered under insurance for the lawsuit, whether from an auto policy or homeowner policy. If that's the case, it could mean that an insurance company attorney would step in and handle the responses to the summons and complaint, as well as the overall defense. No guarantees there, but it is worth exploring. Good luck
