Atlanta, GA asked in Traffic Tickets for Georgia

Q: I got a $256 ticket for failure to obey GA Code 40.6.20. Should this fee be lower?

I googled it and several websites advised that this ticket should be $70. I got accepted into the PTIT program and they want me to pay $195! Can I dispute or get the $256 ticket fee lowered? If so, what are the steps?

A: Good morning,

Thank you for reaching out.

The fines are determined by the specific court. The only way you may be able to request a lower fine would be to appear in court in person and ask the judge. The judge may or may not be amenable to your request.
