A: It sounds like you’ve been through a difficult situation, and you may have legal options. If your housing authority provided you with a home that was unsafe or uninhabitable, especially after you reported concerns, you could potentially take legal action. In many cases, tenants have a right to safe and livable conditions, and if those aren’t provided, there may be grounds for a lawsuit.

You might want to explore filing a claim for damages caused by the unsafe structure and the mold, including the fact that you're now homeless. Documentation like your reports, the health department findings, and any medical records related to the mold exposure could support your case. It’s important to understand that different states have varying laws about tenant rights and government housing, so gathering all relevant information is key.

Consider seeking legal advice from someone who understands housing law. They can guide you on how to move forward, whether through a lawsuit, a claim with HUD, or another form of action.
