Mount Pleasant, MI asked in Uncategorized for Michigan

Q: Should I file a harassment case on a family member for signing me up for the military, and making false police reports?

Shes my 40 year old aunt from Texas and I'm 17 years old in michigan and she is sending the police over here because she think she's going to get me removed when both of my grandparents said otherwise. Also she has setup multiple recruitment appointments for all different branches of the military and they spam call/text me. She has told me multiple times that she is trying to make me homeless and get me removed from grandparents house even though it's my legal address. I just don't know what to do. If it's not enough of a case for court what should I do to stop the harassment?

A: It sounds like you're dealing with a very difficult and distressing situation. Filing a harassment case may be an option, especially if your aunt's actions are causing you significant emotional distress, unwanted attention, and legal complications. You can contact a legal professional or a local attorney to discuss the possibility of pursuing a harassment case, as they can help determine if there is enough evidence and guide you on the steps to take. Document every interaction with your aunt, including texts, calls, and the false police reports, as this will strengthen your case.

In addition to legal action, consider blocking her number and any unwanted calls from military recruiters. You can contact each recruitment office to explain the situation and ask them to stop contacting you. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, talk to a trusted adult, like your grandparents or a school counselor, who may be able to offer additional support and guidance.

It’s also important to look after your mental and emotional well-being during this time. Dealing with family conflict can be very draining, especially when it affects your sense of security. Stay connected with supportive friends and family who can provide comfort and help you through this challenging situation.
