A: Driving without a registered title and proper tags is generally not allowed and can result in fines or other penalties. Each state has specific laws regarding vehicle registration, so it’s important to check the regulations in your area.

You should contact your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) as soon as possible to explain your situation. They may offer a temporary permit that allows you to drive the car legally while you wait for the title to be processed. Make sure you have all necessary paperwork, such as the bill of sale and any transfer documents, to expedite the process.

Using someone else’s tags is illegal and can lead to serious consequences, including fines and vehicle impoundment. It’s best to wait until you have the proper title and registration before driving the car. Taking these steps will help ensure that you comply with the law and avoid any unnecessary issues.
