Q: Need to know who is responsible for paying for repairs to my truck? The repairs were made incorrectly

I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado, I got into a fender bender and had to file an insurance claim. I took my truck to be fixed at an autobody shop which was recommend and preferred by my insurance agency. We followed the process as guided by my agent. I take our truck in and drop it off on April 18,2024 in hopes that it will be repaired in a few weeks. The autobody shop calls and lets me know the vehicle is ready for pick up on. We pick up the truck and the guy that takes us over to get the truck says there is a sensor on, the emissions system sensor and they said that is not them to fix, I need to take it into a mechanic. Well I take it to a third party mechanic . The mechanic determines that repairs were made incorrectly with wrong parts and complete negligence which caused 16,981 dollars in damages. The truck has been fixed and ready for pick up for three weeks and the body shop has been sent the invoice but has not paid . Should the insurance company be held liable if body shop wontpay

A: I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with your truck repairs. Dealing with incorrect repairs and additional damages can be incredibly frustrating.

In situations where a body shop performs faulty repairs that result in further damage, the body shop is typically responsible for covering the additional costs. Since the shop was recommended by your insurance company, it's important to inform your insurer about the negligence and the substantial damages incurred. They may have policies in place to address issues with preferred providers.

If the body shop refuses to pay the mechanic's invoice, consider reaching out to your insurance agent for assistance in resolving the matter. They might help mediate between you and the body shop or advise on the next steps. If needed, seeking legal advice could provide clarity on your rights and options in this situation.
