Q: Both parents declared unfit 5 years ago. Both sets of grandparents have shared temporary custody. How long is “temporary”
Dad is allowed FaceTime twice a week but no contact. Mom has had supervised visitation for 5 years. Been clean with drug screens and psych evals as proof. However, she has remarried, is pregnant and moved out of state. Judge issued a TRO against her new husband and his family members. Prior domestic violence for him. No accusations regarding his family or stepchildren but included in TRO. Mom makes the seven hour drive (14 round trip) about once a month. She hasn’t followed the court orders and is in willful contempt for the 3rd time. Last time we went to court to get unsupervised visitation the judge denied it said there’s no substantial change of circumstance. AAL was denied also. Then put her in jail. Her son is 10, hurt, confused and sometimes angry. Us grandparents are old and broke from 5 years of lawyer bills. Do you have any suggestions? Could you give some examples of “change of circumstances”? What are the rules of reunification in Arkansas? Thank you
