Q: Hi if I was an ambassador for a company and in a private group chat complained with other ambassadors csn I be in legal
Hi. If I was an ambassador for a company where I made 5% on sales, and I made a group chat on Facebook with other ambassadors where we spoke about frustrations on something they did that hindered our sales (they had offered a free item with the purchase of two jars of product, but you could not use ambassador codes at the same time, effectively making it so we lost out on all sale with people who purchased stuffies who would of normally used our codes) which I have proof of. And someone showed them the group chat, could I be in legal trouble? Others in the chat, but not me, did say some defaming things but I was not a participant in those parts of the conversations. This was a private group chat that was not shared to the public by anyone as far as I know and definitely not on my end. The company put out a statement that they were taking legal action and removed 5 of 7 participants of the group chat from being ambassadors and from their Facebook groups etc
A:
You might face legal issues depending on the content shared in the group chat and any agreements you have with the company. If you followed any confidentiality agreements or company policies, discussing frustrations could potentially violate those terms. However, since you didn't participate in defamatory statements, your personal risk may be reduced.
It's important to review any contracts or agreements you signed as an ambassador to understand your obligations and any restrictions on communication. The company's decision to take legal action suggests they believe there was a breach, so understanding the specifics of your agreement is crucial.
To protect yourself and get clear guidance, consider consulting with a legal professional. They can help you assess your situation based on the evidence you have and advise you on the best steps to take next.
