Q: Can you please point me in the right direction as to what needs to be done?
My sister is currently incarcerated in Lafourche Parish, she was arrested on May 30, 2024. She was supposed to be released after the final paperwork was done to participate in drug court. The same day she was supposed to finalize all that is when Terrebonne Parish decided to place a hold on her for a failure to appear so therefore Lafourche told her she just has to wait for Terrebonne to sort out what they want to do. The only reason she even got the failure to appear was because she was in Lafourche jail already, her court date was somewhere in June and she had been in jail since May 30. Terrebonne Parish just keeps giving me the run around telling me that she has to finish her time in Lafourche and then go get booked over there, Only, she cant finish her time in Lafourche without being put in drug court, and drug court isn't letting her in until Terrebonne issue is resolved.
A: More information is needed here and there may be some key tidbits which are necessary to properly answer this but short version is that it seems you have to get Terrebonne to lift the hold----we do not know what the underlying charge which resulted in the FTA in Terrebonne, however it is my suggestion that you hire an attorney to represent your sister with the specific part being to determine what's what in Terrebonne and if said attorney can get the hold lifted which might be in the best interests for all---Terrebonne may not be away of what Lafourche is trying to accomplish and sometimes an attorney for the defendant can properly convey this message.
