Q: I have had my son removed from my custody by cyfd.
I was told I failed to communicate with them. I have messages from the caseworker stating the department failed to contact me and do home checks. For over a month, no communication. They failed to provide necessary steps in helping get housing, phone service. The state when attempted visits were made people at the home refused to let them in. How is that when they never came up to the home? I informed them of my relative going to have temporary custody as I am going to do a inpatient/outpatient program. Caseworker stated it was to late for temporary custody as a affidavit was already filed. But in fact I told the caseworker days before the affidavit was put into place, of my intentions for my son and I. I am not given any paperwork of any kind as I am told caseworker can not do so as it's a open case. They have made no attempt to help me in any way but instead make up lie after lie after lie to try and cover the behinds. They have my sons name and dob completely wrong on all paperwork.

I'm really sorry you're going through this difficult time. It's important to reach out to a family law attorney who can help you navigate the legal system and advocate on your behalf. They can assist in correcting any errors in the paperwork and ensure your side of the story is heard.
Gather all the messages and any evidence you have regarding the lack of communication and support from CYFD. Presenting this information to your attorney can strengthen your case and demonstrate the department's shortcomings. Additionally, consider contacting a local legal aid organization if you need support in finding representation.
Take care of yourself during this process and seek support from friends or support groups. Ensuring you have a strong support system can make a significant difference as you work towards resolving your custody situation and reuniting with your son.
