Q: Under Tennessee law , is a 1996 conviction for burglary other than a habitation classified as a violent felony?

specifically in application of 39-17-1307. given the classification of it in 1996 as non violent, it changing in i believe 2014 to being classified as violent, what is the appropriate charge and class of felony for a 2019 felon in possession of a firearm . with no other convictions

A: Burglary is always a Felony. Violence has nothing to do with the crime conviction. Associated assaults, etc. would be separate crimes.
