Ballwin, MO asked in Landlord - Tenant for Missouri

Q: Landlord wont fix leaking pipes or sewage backup due2 root blockage. Either Ignored or told i can leave . Sue?

Pre.-existung leaking pipes bring bugs and need to fix to be completely bug free. Sewage prob is combo from mainline sewer backflow into rental and roots/damaged lines on rental side. It is not from misuse and feces was filled in floor vents upon moving in upon inspection. I cleaned all and soon realized how /why it happened. I have come down with mononucleosis virus and believe it has been caused by constant sewage backflow i tried to snake sewer line. Got ten feet and was stopped by roots. Roots wont let out waste but.verry slow and backflow goes past.the roots and floods tubs toilets onto floor and damages my items/ no insurance..landlord talks in circles/blames me, says i havent told about it or not home to allow work to be dione even though work is not in the unit living area etc. Even though we have texted about it 4.or 5 times ignored. i am sick and missing work with virus that often keeps people sick for 18 months as adults. Told i can leave. Can i sue for negligence
