Rising Sun, IN asked in Tax Law for Indiana

Q: We have a tax warrant and our tax preparer says not to worry about it. What should we do?

We had our taxes prepared by a professional. We were set to get money back this year both federal and state. 6 months ago we received a letter stating we owed 753 to state. We took it to our tax preparer who said it was wrong and she would deal with it. We then received another letter and again took it to her. She said she would deal with it. Then we received a letter from the sheriff that said we have a tax warrant for non payment and we took it to her. She said they are just trying to scare us and she would deal with it. What should we do? We paid her 200$ to do our taxes and I wanted to believe she would deal with this but she just keeps saying that we don’t owe and that they owe us 198$. But I’m worried about her lack of ability to do what she said and what kind of repercussions a tax warrant could have. I’m not sure what to do from here. She once again said she is going to call them. We think it is a mix up because my husband works in Kentucky but we live in Indiana.
