Q: What about mental stress, emotional stress, abuse of the elderly, trapped inside my home due to flooding of St drainages
Trapped inside my home after rain due to street drainage being clogged up and Mayor doesn't want to do ANYTHING about that. When my wheels on my electric chair gets wet I can't use my ramp cause I spin my wheels and I slide all over the place. City Drainage Problems !!!
A: A Louisiana attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for two weeks. I'm sorry for your ordeal. What you describe sounds like it would be a difficult case, not to diminish what you must have gone through. But many municipalities enjoy certain immunities from such settings, as a matter of public policy. But this is only a general observation on my part - the best way to get definitive evaluation of your matter would be to try to arrange a free initial consult with a local attorney. Every setting is fact-specific, and different attorneys could see things differently, especially local attorneys who could have more insight into such settings if they occur regularly. You could also bring the matter to the attention of local officials, to look into stormwater overflow infrastructure to lessen the possibility of future occurrences. Good luck
A: Addendum - Here's an additional point to consider if you are interested in moving forward with such a suit, and you find positive reception from a law firm. It's possible you could be looking at something known as notices of claims. These are short deadlines (in the order of days or weeks sometimes, depending on the region) that need to be satisfied when bringing a claim against municipalities or public entities. Please keep that in mind. These are in addition to regular state statutes of limitations. Good luck
