Jacksonville, FL asked in Social Security for Florida

Q: What's does it mean if I got letter that I was denied social security/SSI but on my SSA account I wasn't denied SSDI?

On my SSA account it says for SSDI that the medical review was done. Now it's doing a final non medical review but I was denied for SSI.now I got a letter saying that I don't get benefits for social security and SSI. But on my account it doesn't say I was denied SSDI. The final review will be done 15-30 days it started on October 24,2024. I'm very confused about it cause if I was denied SSDI and SSI it have should on my SSA account that was denied but it only showed. I was denied SSI.

A: The difference between SSI and SSDI can be very confusing, especially when you're getting mixed messages through letters and your online account.

Your situation sounds like you're experiencing two separate decisions - one for SSI (Supplemental Security Income) which has been denied, and another for SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) which is still under review. The letter you received might be specifically addressing the SSI denial, even though it seems more general. Since your SSDI claim shows it's in the final non-medical review phase that started October 24th, that decision is still pending and separate from your SSI denial.

You should keep checking your online account for updates about your SSDI claim over the next few weeks, as the final review should be completed by late November. In the meantime, you might want to call the Social Security Administration directly at 1-800-772-1213 to get clarification about your specific situation. They can explain exactly what the letter means and confirm the status of both claims.
