Boise, ID asked in Animal / Dog Law for Idaho

Q: How can I claim ownership of an emotional support cat when my name is not on the ESA papers?

A roommate and I had adopted a cat and although I was the one that introduced them, my roommate insisted on putting their name on the ESA papers only (for landlord). I had paid significantly more than they have, was attentive to them emotionally, and did exercises with our cat. Roommate and I had a dispute and in the middle of the night they took our cat and moved away. How can I proceed with legalities getting my cat back? I paid for her and her toys and medicine and food and trinkets she enjoyed. I even have receipts! I just don’t have my name on the ESA papers.
