Q: How can a local provider tell me I am responsible for the bill if the VA sent me there?
The VA has agreements with local providers to see veterans. This says they will accept the amount the VA pays. The veterans pays nothing. So when I went to one of these appointment, the provider said either I sign their agreement or I will not be seen. Their agreement stated that I'm responsible for the bill and gives them permission to turn everything over to a third party for collection. If I have nothing to do with the billing of this, why am I forced to say that I'm "legally" responsible. for the bill? If the VA has an agreement with them, I should not be asked to put my signature on something saying they can come after me.
