Q: If I was still married to my husband for 17 years and we had 4 kids together and he filed a major lawsuit
The lawsuit was against a large offshore oil production company. I know that after we separated but weren't divorced I found a letter in our shed stating that he agreed to 1.6 million dollars even though I his wife would most likely be entitled to half as community property and it was signed by his attorney. This was in 2012. The reason I never pushed for anything was because he was extremely abusive to me & our children. They are grown now however. I guess my real question here is am I entitled to anything and shouldnt his lawyer have made sure the proper law was carried out and shouldn't I have gotten my own check? I know the Lawsuit was for wrongful termination, damages, lost wages etc. I tried to reach out to his lawyer but he won't speak to me. Isn't there something I can do? possibly even some sort of retribution from the lawyer. I mean my ex never even paid child support once. We suffered for years because of this and are still struggling while he's living it up.
