Pittsburgh, PA asked in Civil Litigation for Pennsylvania

Q: Civil complaint - am I at fault?

A friend wanted a vinyl railing put in on his concrete steps. 10 steps - mentioned he’d like it done sooner rather than later cause there’s nothing there. I explained that stores carry 6ft railing kits in stock. I told him you can order 8ft railings kits however it could take awhile - I say if you’re ok with it I’ll just get a 6ft railings kit. He said sure…I get there with my brother and we had planned to install the railing starting at the first step, we see that the 6’ railing will be short either two steps to the top or to the bottom. We decide for safety, be better to be short two steps to the bottom where its not as steep. I tell the wife we’re gonna change where we’re installing the railing for this reason, she says ok and we finish the job. Wife comes out and likes it pays me in full.

That night husband came home doesn’t like the placement. Wife wants to now return the railing but can’t now wants me to pay for an 8ft railing kit plus all labor to redo the job. I tell her no
