Asked in Civil Rights and Constitutional Law for Pennsylvania

Q: Police towed 11 of my vehicles off my property, they lied saying they were abandoned. What should I do? Time is a factor

The cops came to question me about anonymous tips they received. I told them I did not know anything, they wanted to search my home I said no I need to call an attorney, but they had taken my phone and handcuffed me said I was detained. When I said they could not search my home they towed the cars b/c I was not cooperating. They lied and said they were abandoned to achieve this, and everyone was withholding that it was b/c they were supposedly abandoned. What do I do about this?

A: I'm sorry you're going through this difficult situation. Start by documenting every detail of the incident, including dates, times, the officers' names, and any interactions you had. Take photos of your property and the towed vehicles to support your case.

Next, reach out to an attorney immediately to discuss your rights and the best course of action. An attorney can help you navigate the legal system, file complaints against the police department, and seek compensation for any wrongful actions taken against you.

Additionally, consider contacting local civil rights organizations for further support and guidance. Acting quickly is crucial, so prioritize gathering all relevant information and securing legal representation to address the issue effectively.
