Q: When, if ever, should you speak to a lawyer before reporting them to the ARDC?
I recently found out my lawyer acted very negligently throughout my case based on information gained from the opposing side. When I hired him, I provided all the documents but I guess he never looked at any of them because he didn't contact the opposing lawyer until 3 months later after she had contacted me about a deadline. He filed multiple documents over 2 weeks late and I was never informed about this at any point. I submit evidence to him which I wanted to be used in my defense but he didn't even look at it until over a week after I sent it. He claimed he couldn't use any of the evidence for one reason or another but in reality it was because he had passed the deadline to submit it. In addition to this he didn't listen to any of the input I had in regards to the case and just did what he wanted to.
I plan to report him to the ARDC but I'm curious if there's any reason you should ever speak to a lawyer first after such blatant disregard?
