Asked in Public Benefits for Colorado

Q: Can new medical evidence support my appeal for SSA benefits?

I was denied SSA disability benefits in November 2024 and had 60 days to appeal, as stated in their decision. I have conditions including S.V.T, lumbar DDD, neural foraminal stenosis with possible nerve root compression, a herniated disc, and disc protrusion. Since the denial, I've received a letter from the State Department of Health Policy and Financing verifying my disability. I've had a CT and MRI and am experiencing worsening symptoms, including needing a back brace, urinary incontinence, and require a neurologist visit. I missed the appeal deadline but can apply for good cause for late appeals. I do not have an attorney. Can these developments strengthen my appeal for SSA benefits?
