Q: I am now receiving papers from the workmans comp ins carrier and I am not sure what they are. Should I find a lawyer?

I fell December 29, 2009 resulting in quite a bit of dental work on my front teeth and then rotatory cuff surgery with a bicep tendon snip December 03, 2010. I am now receiving letters for me to sign about the me owing them money for some of the monies when I went back to work part time Jan 31. I am not sure what I am signing and am afraid to sign them.

A: If you had a WC accident on 12/29/10, then you had two (2) years from the date of the accident to file a claim with the Virginia WC Commission. Also, the insurance company can accept your claim by sending you an Agreement form to accept your claim. This Agreement form then is filed with the Commission and an award is entered.
