Q: Can they legally do this?
I've had a lot of trouble lately an have gone through A LOT! I sent my son who is three to stay where i thought he'd be safe til i could get all the things my mom did fixed. but now my friends are trying to keep him and dfacs is punishing me for doing what i thought was the right thing my friends are trying to force me to sign custody over to them and dfacs too should i get a lawyer? i don't have any money trying to fix debt has left me lacking..can they make me or take him away? and can I sign him over to my friend who lives with me? would he be able to live here if i did that?
A: Don't let DFACS bully you. Some would say states are worse than thugs when it comes to threatening poor parents into giving up their children. Once you sign your rights over, it will be difficult if not impossible to get him back. At the same time, if he is going to be in an unsafe situation, try to give guardianship to someone who will protect him and place him in a good environment. We all know about the horrors of the foster care system. Think long and hard before caving into them.
