Chicago, IL asked in Criminal Law for Illinois

Q: I have a non-suit disposition in Chicago for urinating in public. What does this mean and can I expunge it?

Will It appear on an immigration criminal check?

This involves Chicago Municipal Code 8-4-081 for urinating or defecating on the public way.

A: I would suggest looking at the office of the state appellate defender website. The link is below. I do not know if this would appear on immigration check.

They can give you all the forms and a step by step instruction which is online. Cook County Clerk's Office also has a free seminar every year and has forms online and an expungement/sealing packet. Some cases can be expunged (allegedly employers and all arresting agencies will have it erased from their records) and some can be sealed (the records will be hidden from employers but not arresting agencies).

Last, may attorneys do this work including myself and others. Pick up the phonebook or look on Justia for IL attorneys.

Good luck.
