A: Why is this an estate planning question? Estate planning deals with people who are living considering wills or trusts to provide for the transfer of their assets when they die.

What is the lawsuit about? Are you the plaintiff or defendant? If a motion for summary judgment was filed by the opposing party and you responded already, then it is up to the moving party to schedule a hearing on the motion. Has this been done and is it necessary? If not, why not?

Whether its good or bad depends on who you are. If somebody (the plaintiff) is seeking a money judgment against you (the defendant) then I would not care if the judge ever ruled as any ruling against you means that you lose and judgment is entered in favor of the other party. So any delay in judgment would be a good thing. However, if you are the plaintiff, it could be viewed differently. You might want the judge to rule in your favor.

I would check the court file and see what has been done. It would be a matter of courtesy to provide you with a copy of any order granting or denying summary judgment but if this is for something like a credit card debt then the motion could already have been heard and acted upon. That is why you need to check the court file to see what has been done. If nothing has been done, then you might want to consult a local litigation attorney who practices in that county to find out why no decision has been made and what you can do to either prompt a ruling or get this case resolved.
