Q: Wife changed locks on home and denies access

I left with my son for the night (blended family no kids together) and she changed the locks on the home and denies me entry. The home was purchased after we were married and she is the only person listed on the deed. If I establish another residence for the sake of a place for myself and children does that hurt my ability to re-enter the home? I did not move out and many of my possessions are still there. She is the sole income generator of the home (doctor making $650K plus per year) and I am currently financially dependent on her. What are my rights?

A: You have the right to file for divorce. As part of the court proceedings, the court can enter orders regarding access to the home, the ability to gain possessions, etc. With her making $650K per year, and you being the party who stays home, you likely also state a case for receiving maintenance (alimony). Once a divorce case is filed, you will not be able to come back to the home absent permission or a court order.
