Pompano Beach, FL asked in Divorce for Florida

Q: I need to add to the last question that I made a typo. My name is on nothing with his accts.

With hisvinvestments, buying of gold stock and coins put away in safety deposit. If anything would happen to him I would just get his social security and his kids would get the rest. He's well versed on how to protect himself, and I am intimidated. We do have a joint acct which seemed to be the way to do things. Of course I don't see a dime when there's a refund. Takes financial advantage anyway possible so I just try to protect myself. Need a Florida atty opinion. This is part 2 of my question. Space was not there for me to complete. Thank you.

A: Well, I haven't read part one. If you want to protect yourself, you need to hire a family attorney in your area. There are many issues in any divorce. If you want an opinion, you have to tell the attorney all the facts and be ready to answer any questions that the attorney might have. The advice you can get on a forum like this is limited because the attorney never gets all the relevant facts and cannot ask you questions and get your response. So, go see one, and many offer free consultations.

A: You get half of all assets acquired during the marriage unless there was a pre-nup. Use of a lawyer is recommended
