Mattoon, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Missouri

Q: I've never had a ticket in my life and was given a ticket for not having proof of insurance. I had an old policy on me.

I DO have insurance however I am waiting on the proof in the mail and it still hasn't arrived yet. I do have my policy number and the name of the third party insurance I am using but I still don't have physical proof of the insurance. I am 23 years old with a Bachelors degree and majored in CJ and business with a perfectly clean record. The police officer wouldn't call with my new policy number and ticketed me instead. Now I have court tomorrow and I am scared because the mail still hasn't come with my proof of insurance. All I have is the policy number. I am not sure what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A: I'm sorry that you did not have insurance on you. Any competent criminal defense attorney should be able to help get this ticket dismissed or reduced if you have insurance now.
