A: This is an excellent question.

Many more details would need to be known in order to give you a complete evaluation with respect to trying to get your App which provides speed into evidence at trial and if Dash Cam was available and would even help determine speed. The results from the App definitely could be used when negotiating this case.

The rule in GA is that if you are under 18 years old, the GA Department of Driver Services will suspend your driver's license for 6 months if you accrue 4 or more points on your driving record within a 12 month period.

Any ticket conviction that is 24 mph or greater over the posted limit is a 4 point ticket by itself and will cause your son's GA driver's license to be suspended if convicted at the current alleged speed.

The other issue that you need to be concerned with is having the ticket go on your son's driving record and causing his nsurance to increase.

It is best to contact an experienced Georgia traffic ticket attorney to discuss the above evidentiary issues and see if it is possible to get your son's specific ticket case dismissed or reduced without your son having to appear at court so that there is no impact to your son's driver's license or insurance.

I am often able to accomplish this great result for my clients! However, I need to know the specific details about your son's case including the specific court.

I have been practicing law in GA for over 20 years and regularly handle speeding ticket cases in GA.

To this end, I can definitely help your son with his defense if you like.
