Minneapolis, MN asked in Elder Law and Probate for Kansas

Q: How do I get an advancement on my share ofinheritance from My adoptive dad. I think he has a will.

1 My parents divorced. Everything had to be turned into Cash. My younger sister kept my dad alienated from me. She convinced him to buy her a new home. he paid $405,000 cash for her a new home. That money came from the division of cash assets from marriage. They also had to sell real estate property namely a small farm. Sales from the "farm" will total aprox. 829,000. The closing on the sale from the farm is coming up within a week. Can I take my dad to court for any advancement of inheritance? I am his oldest daughter but I am also adopted legally by him. Is there anything that I can do to get my share . My sister has stated that she would see to it that she was the only who would receive any benefit from his passing. There were four children in the family. Three were from my mom's previous marriage. I am one of those three, but dad adopted me legally. I was less than 6 months old when he became my dad. He then adopted when I was 10 years old. I don't know if he has filed a will.
