Oakland, NJ asked in Family Law, Real Estate Law, Animal / Dog Law and Sexual Harassment for New Jersey

Q: I’m 24 and I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my mom as I’m getting my doctorate. I got a loan through school to move

out, but I won’t get that money for another month. her son (my half brother) assaulted me for my whole childhood and a month ago threatened me, so I went to my local PD and ended up opening a case about it. They told me last night that he’s in jail and I guess he called my mom and she freaked out and doesn’t believe me (i told her when I was 14 and she didn’t believe me then either) and is basically kicking me out of the house. I guess my question is A) can she legally kick me out right now and B) are there resources that could help me move out sooner since I won’t have the loan money for a month? I live in NJ. All of my bills, license, etc etc have her address on them. My immediately family (including my dad who divorced her in 2018) now live in Texas so I don’t really have anywhere to go. I also have a cat and I have a place lined up to move into once I get my loan.
