Q: Please help! After completing a rental agreement while working away, I believe I’m being unfairly charged.
After completing a 3 month housing rental agreement +2 month extension, there were a few cm strips of tin foil left In the bottom of the oven (after placement for protection; oven works perfectly). The owners are charging me $7000 for a new oven. We had a positive relationship while I lived there and now I feel they are taking advantage of me. My damage deposit was $2500 - they are already withdrawing $350 for the cleaner I agreed to at move in, plus $311.99 for a vacuum as they say it wasn’t working properly, $100 for extra hours of their hired property manager, $204 for appliance consult, $519 for continued foil removal, $597 for oven calibration, $199 service call… I find this very disheartening after maintaining a great relationship and taking what I was told was excellent care of the home.
