Joliet, IL asked in Contracts for Illinois

Q: Partners change their mind

I became owners with 2 other women and we were putting a website together. We dont have an operating agreement. But we have a web development contract we all signed and we were to open July 1st (Friday) They called me a couple days ago and told me it wasnt working out and they dont want me to be a owner of this site anymore. We spent a month doing work on this website and the name and logo and choosing design ect... In the contract it says all the content is the property of us. I want to know if they can just do this and still put up the site and use the name and design and ideas I put into it.

A: It sounds like you would have a cause of action if they did so. I suggest that you contact a local attorney for the purpose of sending a letter setting forth your position and requestng compensation for your time and work product.
