A: This is a really interesting question. The fact is that genes are not considered, unless the defect causes an individual an inability to discern right from wrong. Shoud it be considered is a different question. However, this seems more like a question of opinion than law. In AZ guilty except insane is a defense, though having crazy parents is not.
