A: If your husband is charged with a Class 4 felony, that is a serious charge. A felony, by definition in Illinois, is a crime that may be punishable by more than a year in custody. Depending on your husband's history with the criminal justice system, he may be eligible for probation if he is convicted of that offense.

It is always a good idea to consult with qualified counsel when facing a serious charge. That attorney can explore whether the case should be tried, whether there are appropriate pre-trial motions, and can either try the case or negotiate with the prosecution.
