Q: My lawyers are trying to persuade me to settle for less. Should I be concerned about this behavior?

A: It is not unusual for a client to have an unrealistic view as to the value of a case. Ask your lawyers to explain why they are advising you to settle. You can get a second opinion from another lawyer if you wish. Of course, if you refuse to take your lawyers' advice, you run the risk of going to trial and receiving less than the amount being offered.

A: It depends on how much less, but usually, no. The alternative is to not settle, which can result in receiving less than what is currently being offered or maybe nothing at all. The best advise if you are that concerned is to seek a second opinion regarding the value of your case.
