Miami, FL asked in Internet Law for Florida

Q: Can I answer "deny" for the defamation lawsuit response?

A company is suing me because I posted a defamatory comment on it in a blog. The company is now accusing me of other postings on other blogs, which I never did. In its lawsuit, under the Statement of Facts, there is only one accusation against me. That accusation states: “The defendant posted in several blogs. Printouts of these blogs are in Exhibit A”.

Exhibit A contains blog 1, blog 2, blog 3, blog 4,…and blog 9.

I wish to respond “deny the allegation” (because I didn’t post in blogs 2, 3, ..9. I posted only in blog 1)

Please let me know if I am correct.

A: Without getting an attorney, you will most likely lose. But yes, you either admit, deny, or say you are without knowledge concerning the individual paragraphs in the complaint, and you also need to set up affirmative defenses.
