Wilmington, DE asked in Animal / Dog Law for Delaware

Q: I have a suspiscion that a contractor working on my home has stolen my dog

I have never indicated what -so-ever that he is to tend to my dog while working on my home while I amat work. He claims he let my dog out into our fenced in yard, and then left her out there for an hour or so. He claimed that she must have escaped under the fence. His story has a lot of holes and now I cant get a hold of him. I am suspicious that he stole her (she is a purebread miniature yorkie worth at least $1200). The dog does have a micro chip (I did not inform him of that) Can I take steps to call the police?

A: Before calling the police without any evidence, have you considered trying to locate your dog using the microchip?
