Smyrna, TN asked in Personal Injury for Tennessee

Q: I had an accident back in Nov 2012, where both myself and the other person didn't have insurance.

I am wondering what is TN laws on accidents where both parties have no insurance, the other parties filed in July 2014 for judgement against me for injuries. But at the time of accident he had no injuries at all. This accident happened in Memphis TN. I went to the court date today but the other party didn't show up his lawyer was there but lawyer seem to not know anything about this case , so they continued court date to Jan 6th 2015

A: You need to contact an attorney in Shelby County to represent you. Otherwise, you have the difficult task of having to defend yourself in court against someone who does have an attorney. Also, it may be that the other party was at least partially at fault for the accident, in which case you may still have some legal rights to pursue against him/her (depending upon when the accident occurred). Good luck..
