Scottsdale, AZ asked in Domestic Violence for Arizona

Q: I was hit and sexually assaulted by an ex 3 months ago. I was too afraid to report it at the time. Is it too late?

The police came to the house that night. His child had called the cops. His ex wife came to get the children and take them away from the scene. His daughter heard him hitting me. I had a split inside my lip but did not show the cops. I was afraid to report it at the time. I continued seeing him and stood up for him. I am now interested in pursuing things because he has become emotionally abusive as well now. I felt like I was brainwashed into complying and protecting him. Now that I've seen the light, I know he's dangerous and would like to pursue matters. He has two prior domestic abuse charges from his ex wife, which he claims were dismissed. Yet they show on a criminal background check. Is it possible to pursue anything now? His daughter witnessed some of the sexual assault. I don't recall seeing her witness that. His ex took a protective order out against him from this night. I am just curious if this is even something that can be pursued after 3 months
